Costa Rica Camping Retreat - Beach + Cloud Forest
Saturday, 7/29-Sunday, 8/6

Neal and I would like to invite you to join us on a camping trip, visiting our favorite spots in Costa Rica!
During this trip we will be tent camping for 3-6 nights and cooking some of our own meals.  A great mix of visiting local towns, restaurants, and adventure tours along with plenty of time for relaxation, exploring jungles + wildlife. As always, all activities are optional!

In order to keep this an intimate and relaxed retreat, we are currently opening only 6 spots... register with your deposit now!

Please bring the following supplies for camping:
layers for cool nights and warm days in the cloud forest; swimsuit + flip flops; a hat; hiking shoes or boots; sunscreen; bug spray; mess kit; hiking backpack; flashlight or head lamp; rain jacket. optional: compact sleeping bag and/or tent (we can supply these items for an additional charge, our tents will fit 2 adults)
Please note that with camping equipment and bodies, space will be limited in our vehicles. We ask that you travel as light as possible. You will have an opportunity to do laundry mid-week.

Saturday, 7/29
Arrive at LIR airport in Liberia, Guanacaste (Pacific coast). We will pick you up from the airport and bring you to Playa Hermosa to settle in at Congos Hostel + Camping. Tent camping is available with access to showers and toilets, electricity, BBQ and tables. Dorm style accommodations may be available upon request. (If you prefer to upgrade to a hotel room for our stay in Hermosa this can be arranged for an additional charge.) You will be invited to join our group for dinner at a nearby restaurant or dine on your own this evening.

Sunday, 7/30
You have the option to stay in Hermosa, explore other surrounding towns/beaches, check out Liberia, etc. We can help you find and book any adventure tours you are interested in. Taxis are everywhere and we can also help you grab an Uber if needed. (A yoga practice will be offered at some point today.)

Monday, 7/31
The first half of your day is all yours. After lunch, we'll head to Playas del Coco (next town over) for a gorgeous afternoon trip with our friend Luis on board the Don Bosco, sailing out to Playas Huevos, a small hidden beach accessible only via boat, amazing caves fill and boom with the tides. Upon our return to Coco there are several restaurant options available for dinner.

Tuesday, 8/1
After an early breakfast, we will load up and head to La Fortuna. We expect this drive to be around 3-3.5hrs and will plan to stop for lunch along the way. This drive around Lake Arenal through the countryside is absolutely beautiful and worth the trip! Upon arrival in La Fortuna, you will have the opportunity to drop off laundry (about $7 for a load) before our afternoon of soaking in the volcanic hot springs. We will spend the night at one of the many hotels nearby (TBD) within walking distance of tons of restaurants, convenience stores, and adventure tours. La Fortuna is a wonderful little town with a perfect view of the Arenal Volcano when skies are clear.

Wednesday, 8/2
Breakfast at or near our hotel. Spend a leisurely morning exploring La Fortuna. (We highly recommend checking out Organico Fortuna, one of the best cafes in town.) After lunch we will pick up laundry and head out of town by 1pm on our way to Finca Calma, our 400 acre farm in the cloud forest. We will pick up supplies for dinner (+ breakfast) on the way, as the farm is fairly remote, primitive style camping (no electricity or toilets).

The San Lorenzo River at the edge of FINCA CALMA

The San Lorenzo River at the edge of FINCA CALMA

Thursday, 8/3 - Friday, 8/4
During our time at Finca Calma we will offer a guided hike to the San Lorenzo river and a tour of the upper and lower farms. You will have an opportunity to take a field trip into the beautiful town of San Ramon for lunch, shopping, gathering fresh fruit and other supplies at the central market. You may want to try a zip line adventure or horseback riding tour at the nearby Lands in Love Resort (one activity included in your package). Yoga will be offered at some point each day. All activities are optional, feel free to do nothing, unplug, relax, spend time in nature, and just simply BE!

Saturday, 8/5
We will leave Finca Calma in the morning and make our way to the beautiful town of Sarchi, famed throughout Costa Rica for its brightly colored, intricately constructed handicrafts. We will have an easy walk thru tour of an artisan workshop, browse, shop, have lunch, and get back on the road for a short drive to Guacima Country Inn for our final night. You may stay in at the hotel restaurant or join us at a local microbrewery for our final dinner together.

Sunday, 8/6
Breakfast at Guacima Inn (included) + check out.
We will transport you to the SJO airport in San Jose and say our goodbyes!

(Note: Schedules subject to change due to weather and other factors, but in the event that an excursion should be unavailable, we will schedule something else awesome in its place!)
